This means I can create prints and gifts etc, of the artwork created. When a portrait is commissioned, I reserve the right to display it on my website and on my social media pages. Clients who do not wish their commissioned portrait to be shown online must notify me before work commences. The client does not have the right to sell copies of the work in any way without permission from the artist.

Reference photo

The photographs provided for reference images must be of good quality and have been taken by the client, or permission for their use obtained by client from the person who took them. If the project is to be a gift, the client accepts responsibility for sourcing and using images that are of the recipient’s pet. By sending me reference photos you grant me permission to use them in my publicity and advertising media (such as showing a comparison between the reference photo and the final artwork). All reference photos will be deleted by the artist once they are no longer needed, after the commission has been completed and received by the client.

Timescales

I will give an estimate of the date I aim to start the artwork, and the date you should expect to receive it by, but these are only estimates and not a guarantee. While I will work hard to meet any deadlines you may have, factors outside of my control like issues with the postal service, may mean that is not be possible.

Payment

Before committing to completing a commission, and starting work on drawing it, the payment of a non-refundable 50% deposit is required. Then, once you are happy with the finished artwork and have paid the complete amount plus postage and packaging, it will be posted to your specified address.

Cancellations

You are under no obligation to pay the full amount until you are happy with the final result. If, for any reason, you want to cancel your commission before the final payment is made, you are free to do so at any time and will not need to pay any outstanding amount. I will, however, retain the deposit to help cover loss of business, and any time spent on the project so far. If you haven’t paid 30 days after notification of completion, and I have not heard otherwise, I will assume you want to cancel the commission.

Unusual Circumstances

If you are not responding to my e-mails, or are unable to supply sufficient information or photos for me to work with, or have an unreasonable expectation of what I am able to do for you, (every artist has their own style, abilities and preferred materials. Please view my existing artwork to get a feel for mine before you proceed with a commission), I reserve the right to cancel your booking and if payment has already been taken, you will be refunded. This will not include the 50% deposit as this is non-refundable.

If I have to cancel your commission due to unforeseen personal circumstances that prevent me from completing the artwork, you will be notified as soon as possible and will receive a full refund. In this circumstance, this will include the 50% deposit, you will receive a full refund.

Shipping

All orders are posted securely with a tracking number to the address you provide. If the item is a gift, I can post it directly to the recipient. Just let me know the address you would like me to send it to.

Shipping Costs

This depends a lot on the size, weight and where it’s being shipped to but for within the UK mainland it starts at £9.95, this is for Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and includes:

✅️ Next day delivery by 1pm

✅️ Full tracking

✅️ Photo and signature on delivery

✅️ Compensation cover up to £750

When your portrait is posted. I will give you a tracking number so you can follow its journey to your door.

I am based in the UK so shipping here will cost slightly less than shipping overseas and generally be a bit quicker.

For clients ordering from countries outside of the UK, I will try my best to provide you with a more accurate shipping quote before I move forward with the commission and take payment.

Shipping times are out of my control and I am not responsible for any delays within the post. Please also be aware that there may be potential customs fees depending on the restrictions in your country.

Shipping damage

My portraits are packaged very well, however in the unlikely event that damage occurs during transit (and compensation from Royal Mail isn't possible) please send a photo of the damaged artwork to me immediately. Depending on the extent of the damage, the artwork must be returned to me and either a new portrait will be drawn at no cost or a print of the original artwork, along with a partial refund, can be provided. If the client chooses to have the portrait re-drawn, the new portrait will be added to my client waiting list so might take some time to complete.

After care

The artist can not be responsible for any damage or degradation of the artwork after it has been received by the client.

Artwork and Portrait Care Advice

Here are some useful pointers to help ensure that your artwork remains beautiful for many years to come.

How to frame your portrait

You don't want the portrait to lie flat against the glass of a frame. Ideally (especially for a pastel drawing) you want to use a card mount, these are usually supplied with most frames and will provide a small air gap between the portrait and the glass of the frame. Another good display option is a box frame. When selecting a frame, please opt for glass and avoid acrylic which can create static between the acrylic and the portrait, potentially leading to excessive fallout and causing the portrait to deteriorate over time.

Temperature

No artwork fairs well when positioned in direct sunlight. When placed in bright light a portrait may fade over time and loss its beautiful detail and colour. When choosing frames, you could consider ones that provide UV protection but I'd still be wary of displaying artwork in direct sunlight.

Humidity

Frequent changes to humidity can also be damaging to a portrait. High levels of humidity and damp can damage the paper, create an environment for mold to form and totally ruin beautiful artwork.

Portrait Placement

When deciding on the placement of the portrait, please consider the following:

▪️Away from windows and direct sunlight.

▪️Away from radiators.

▪️Away from humid or seasonal damp areas.

▪️Where possible also avoid kitchens and bathrooms.

I would recommend:

✅️ Hallways.

✅️ Living rooms.

✅️ Dining rooms.

✅️ Bedrooms.

Data protection

The artist will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties.
